Manchester United are not only one of the most famous football clubs in the world but also one of the richest, now they’re potentially stepping into NFTs after their partnership with blockchain, Tezos is set to be announced. This isn’t the first time Tezos has partnered with a sports team, after their work with McLaren (F1), Red Bull (F1), New York Mets (baseball) and Team Vitality (eSports).
About the Partnership
Manchester United recently inked a multi-year sponsorship deal with Tezos blockchain reportedly in the range of $27 million USD per year. This deal will allow Tezos to place its logo on the team’s training kits. This deal has not been published by either party. However, it has been reported that Manchester United have finished filming promotional content for the announcement.
This was first reported by The Athletic, who mentioned that this contract may also include endeavours beyond the training kit sponsor. These may include moves into the Web3 and Metaverse. This would be Manchester United’s first move into this area. However, we’ve seen it a lot within sports across the world.
